Well, I guess now that my 30 day self portrait challenge is over, it's time to start posting some real content again =P I chose to save everything so that I would have a lot more content to post after the challenge was over, and wouldn't be doing more than one post on the same day. All that being said, a post with proper pictures is coming soon... I am up to my ears in editing my new website, and don't want to break focus. The image above is a small preview of what is coming. Thanks go to my dashing brother, for making such a good silhouette ;)
Lately, lots of people have been posting their bucket lists... and while I don't like to follow trends because everyone else is doing it (or if I do, it is always a year afterwards when it isn't cool anymore ^_^), I thought this was a good exercise. And after the last thirty days, I totally believe in the helpfulness and necessity of challenges and goals. They grow you as an individual, and if you don't set them for yourself, you are never going to get all of them done. As well as the fact that posting them publicly is just that much more incentive to work on stuff...
My bucket list is not limited to strictly photography goals. I am so much more than just my photography... and while I am finding myself identifying as a photographer more than anything else as of late, there are other things I want to do, so they are included on the list as well.
Bucket List (items will be crossed off as I complete them)
- Do yoga more. This sporadic stuff is not improving anything
- Start barefoot running
- Start rock climbing (if all this is leaving the impression I am physically lazy... that isn't necessarily so. I just have trouble getting around to learning the new things I want to do)
- Get work shooting Broadway shows
- Shoot the Nutcracker
- Get more comfortable with my editing workflow and my own style of editing, without worrying about it fitting in or looking right compared to what other people do
- Be more comfortable around horses. I can ride them, but put me on the ground with them and I am a nervous wreck
- Visit Yosemite
- Visit Europe
- Work up the courage to submit my website and work for critique
- Live out west for a while, just to see if I like it
- Write a novel and get it published
- Always, ALWAYS remember to pay it forward. So many people have helped me at various times of my life, professionals who took me under their wing and gave me guidance. I want to do the same for as many people as I can.
- Finish my college degree
- Be a tour photographer
- Start work on my personal project
- Fix up and ride my great-uncle's unicycle
- Continue to blog more. I really liked blogging every day or every couple days during my self-portrait challenge
- Eat Chinese food with someone who knows how to eat Chinese food! I think I would like it so much better if I had help =P
- Make better portraits (of other people). I am not happy with my skill level there, and I want to start fixing that
I am very sure that this list is not done, I shall be returning to it often in the next few years. I'll probably update in future posts when something gets completed or added. Until then... I have some work to do!
