Wednesday's photo is an example of what happens when I refuel by watching Phantom of the Opera and have costumes at my disposal =)
I had a lot of fun with this one. For almost all my teenage years, I've been watching and loving the musical version of the movie that came out in 2004. The story has always captivated me, and I have always loved it. It never ceases to be a source of inspiration, even though I have seen it countless times by this point. If I ever go to Broadway, I will be seeing the Phantom! As much as I have loved the story though, I have never bothered to see any of the other versions. This week, I managed to wrangle my brother into watching the 1925 silent film version of it with me (I had heard enough about it to not want to watch it by myself. It is a horror movie, on levels the 2004 adaption is not). Ohmygoodness! I think I wouldn't have loved it so much if I didn't already love the story, but it was nevertheless beautiful and so very inspiring. You can actually watch the movie on IMDb, if you are interested. It was so dark, so delightfully scary, and so beautifully tragic. Perfect mix for inspiration!
And for the curious, the corset is an authentic 1860's corset that my grandma and I made. And yes, it is just about as uncomfortable as you might imagine... but only if tightened. I have gotten stuck in it once, and let me just say, that is claustrophobia beyond what I can describe.
